This week an accomplishment I has was that I was able to go on my first interview with Dr.Delk, who is a biology professor at UTD where she teaches molecular and cell biology, and her main areas of study are cancer metabolism and genomics. She provided a lot of helpful insights about what she does in a lab, how she can make sure her data is as accurate as possible, and additionally what got her into this field of cancer research. Before the interview with Dr.Delk I was running out of ideas I found interesting and wanted to research for my next ISM research project, and she gave me the idea to look into IRB or Institutional Review Board. Their main goal as an administrative body is to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects hired to participate in research activities conducted. I found that this would be a great idea for me to look deeper into as this is a major part of starting research. Additionally, I've done most of my research in the past from articles on MackinVIA and PubMed, but she said that Google can be at times the best database to find some of the best articles.
