This past week in ISM has been a great building block for what comes in my future, progress in this amazing course. It has been a while since I've given a proper speech to a group of individuals, as the last time I did this was back in eighth grade, so given the opportunity to talk to the class and give an introductory speech was quite helpful. I learned how to write an effective speech, while also having to memorize it and I'm very proud as my speech went well, and I feel accomplished and successful. At the end of my speech, I finished with a saying that my dad reminds me of which is you don’t have to be amazing to start, you just have to start to be amazing. I genuinely believe that being part of this program will allow me to start on my journey so that I can be amazing in my future. The first day of ISM was a little challenging as I am not the best at remembering people's names and playing name games and practicing matching names to faces was a tool that helped me quickly overcome this challenge. Remembering names is an important skill one must have in a professional workplace as mispronouncing or forgetting names can come across as rude, but personally, when people remember my name I feel important and valued and that's how I would like to make sure the people I meet feel.
