When I first started the ISM course this year, I knew I had a strong passion for the field of biomedical sciences. Although I knew this was something I would love to pursue in the future, this topic wasn’t specific enough for me to continue researching. Biomedicine has many different subtopics and there are countless things one can research, so I realized I needed to quickly narrow down what I was interested in. With the help of past research assessments and things I learned on my own from last week, I found that clinical studies interested me the most. My last couple of assessments have been on different sectors and parts of clinical research and last week’s article assured me this is what I wanted to continue my research on. My research assessment taught me that more women and people from minority races are needed in clinical trials. When I continue my journey in the biomedical field and more specifically, clinical studies there are a few things I should keep in mind when attempting to attract people of minorities and females to participate in a study such as providing a clear description of what I plan on doing and how I will go about testing on the patients. This will assure both parties have the same thoughts and ideas on what will take place, allowing for a better understanding.
