Through this ISM program, I've been learning new things every week, that I may have never had the possibility to experience without taking this class and it's helped me not only in my academic life but additionally in my life outside of school. This week has allowed me to get some insight into the work that the students of ISM must put in this course to be successful. Last week I found it somewhat challenging to complete my assessment, while also taking care of my other ISM work and homework from my other classes, but it wasn't that much out of my comfort zone as I am used to having to balance many things. However, this assessment, which is my first major grade in my ISM class has been exceptionally helpful with digging deeper into my topic of interest. It allowed me to research about the decrease in funding for biomedical research as a result of inflation, that organization that funds this research didn't plan enough for. I was able to learn how the decrease in biomedical research studies that are unable to be funded has lead to not only a negative impact on the well-being of people in our country but additionally a negative impact on our economy. As last week ended I learned that I would like to have a better understanding of what steps researchers take to set up an experiment, or just begin researching.
